Do you consider yourself a lucky person? Have unexpected things you were ready for turned up which made your life better? We don’t mean something as extreme as a major lottery win, but perhaps getting a job because a stronger candidate dropped out with the flu, or catching the train despite being late because it was delayed?
Or would rather consider yourself unlucky? You missed the key job interview because you caught the flu, or missed that train because it was cancelled.
Perhaps you don’t believe in luck at all, thinking that people make their own good—or bad—fortune, and that success in life is down to hard work and persistence.
But if we’re not careful, we can develop the habit of WAITING for recognition, for confirmation, and the permission to proceed..
We become passive.
Nene: “Do you know Mafuane became the CEO?”
Koyinsola: “Yeah, girl is minting millions!”
Nene: “Well, she just got lucky.”
We may think: if we just keep working within the system, plodding along the path, when it’s time—when we’re worthy—we’ll be rewarded with our dream job, our dream spouse, or whatever it is we’re after.
There’s no such thing.
Successful people always live in the present, work in the present and make full use of their skills and resources to make every day a lucky day. They don’t have to wait for a certain time to get success. They plan for it and work for it every day and achieve it eventually.
See it this way; The harder you work, the luckier you get.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

And it’s unfortunate how luck always seems to be against the woman who depends on it.
Luck can often mean simply taking advantage of a situation at the right moment, It is possible to make your luck by being always prepared.

How do people get opportunities that come out of nowhere? They work their butt off. That’s how they form connections. They read. That’s how they get new ideas. Others have the same opportunities, but they don’t see them. Their perspectives are blurred by their limited thoughts and belief systems.
It is a great piece of skill to know how to guide your luck even while waiting for it.

Katherine Johnson was a hero, a NASA Mathematician and trailblazer who amongst her greatest achievements, was her calculations of the 1961 trajectory for Alan Shepard’s flight (first American in space). Her exceptional skill and hard work was how she got “lucky” to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from then President, Barack Obama.
If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.
How many times have you made new plans and cancelled them the very next day?? We all have ideas. We all have opportunities. The missing link is will. Direct your will and all problems will burn. Problems are actually opportunities to achieve the next level.
By increasing the chance of a favorable outcome, you can make your own luck.
Most of us are waiting for our big break, and that’s the worst way to succeed.
